Zello
Zello is a free Walkie-Talkie app that works on most operating systems (Windows, Apple iOs and Android).
Go to the App Store, Play Store, etc. and download and install the Zello PTT Walkie-Talkie app.
Once installed, create an account. You can use your REACT Call Sign, Amateur Radio Call Sign, or any other Call Sign you wish. Bear in mind that your user name or alias shows up on Zello as your Call Sign.
You can create your own Channel.
REACT has an open channel (no password required), where all communicators are welcome to join, no matter the organization you belong to. The general public is welcome. While a license is not required, on the REACT MEMBERS channel, we do expect the use of Call Signs, and a yearning for proper radio operating practices.
There are Networks or "Nets" on the REACT MEMBERS channel on Zello every Saturday at 9pm AST and a "Technet" on Mondays at 9pm AST.
The Nets are Directed Nets, which means that all traffic must go through the Net Control Station. If you are not familiar, listen for a bit and you'll quickly get the hang of the protocol as the Net Controller will guide the process. Don't worry too much about making errors, as we all may at some point, and you will be gently guided accordingly.
